"Roby's command of his horn is impressive and unique: He does not resemble Bechet, Coltrane, Lacy or anyone but himself.... He has a brilliant tone, super-fast fingers, excellent intonation and an engaging musical imagination that extends into his instruments' high register naturally, with no strain." - Howard Mandel, NYC

"Glod’s alto and soprano are a drizzle of crystalline notes, bunched with massive and coloured cadences and dissonant floods, making his sound «mineral» with a majestic hallmark." - JazzReview.com

" A beat is optional in this sort of free jazz, but momentum is a requirement, and Kugel and Ramond, thinking in tandem, are expert at supplying it." - Francis Davis, July 2020

" ... Ramond and Kugel ... is an excellent rhythm section, that quietly turns in an exhilarating performance. Everything is terrifically balanced, from the song structures to the interaction. Collective motion is electric: a charging, spasmodic swing rises up from all sides. They are, simply, an irresistible rhythm section, by turns direct, elusive, and awash in color." - Greg Buium, CODA MAGAZINE

"... and the two pointillists, Christian Ramond on double bass and Klaus Kugel on percussion who develop flowing, and at the same time metallically springy rhythmical continuums - always alert and ready to alter the timbre, to simply drop something of significance and change direction." - Hans-Jurgen Linke, FRANKFURTER RUNDSCHAU

"Drummer Klaus Kugel is one of Central Europe's busiest and most articulate modern jazz drummers ... he treads the boundary between inside and outside playing in a particularly incisive way; always listening and never getting caught up in his own considerable chops." - Dave Wayne, ALL ABOUT JAZZ

Concert review
